Experimentation in multilingual dialogue is central to their work.

Women Leaders on Stage – a Theatre Play
The new "work in progress" project of DilaliaDuett began in 2022 in collaboration with Paul Vanderbroeck, an historian and coach of female leaders. International in scope, it was initially written together with the Geneva-based company Super Trop Top, and then finalised by DilaliaDuett. It was commissioned by Assogestioni, an Italian association of asset management companies. It premiered at the Salone del Risparmio financial fair in Milan in May 2023. Inspired by Paul's book 'Leadership Strategies for Women', the 25 minute short play explores the challenges faced by four historical and contemporary women as they cope with power. Thanks to the enthusiastic response of audiences and given its suitability for academic contexts, it has been presented in Lausanne as part of a Master's programme in Medical Management and was featured again in Rome at Luiss University in January 2024. It was recently represented at Microsoft Italy, followed by a panel discussion featuring leading women experts in the field.
Children's concerts: DilaliaDuett's flagship project is an international music event in collaboration with the Musicus Society of Hong Kong. Since 2017 they have been acting as script-writers, directors and actresses in the children's concert, which opens the international classical music festival, Musicus Fest. The show is a coming together of music and theatre, and also a cultural exchange between West and East with actors performing in English and Cantonese. The plot is enlivened by the hilarious acts of the Zannis of the Italian Commedia dell'arte who contribute comedic sketches. The play centres around the figure of Marco Polo, connector between the two worlds, who introduces the children to the masks of the commedia dell'arte and the instruments of the two cultures. The music, performed live by some of the finest musicians in Hong Kong, makes the performance, held at the famous City Hall, a must-see event among HK's rich cultural offerings.

Bilingual stage readings: DilaliaDuett's longest-running activity involves bilingual Italian/German stage readings. Presented for the first time on the occasion of the Notte dei Racconti (The Night of Stories) at the Swiss School Rome in 2015, the readings marked the beginning of the duo's partnership. This work was designed as chamber theatre, requiring little staging and enabling performances in non-theatrical settings. Initially the duo did readings in various bookshops in Rome and were soon sought out by bilingual schools such as the German school in Rome and Milan. In 2022, as part of the Goethe-Institut's German Week in Rome, DilaliaDuett performed with children's book author, Cornelia Funke. In 2023, they participated in the LongLake Festival in Lugano and the Keinkunstfest in Brixen. They took part in the Podcasting Festival Milano with their first bilingual reading podcast published on Spotify. Their repertoire of bilingual stage readings currently includes seven stories by German and Italian authors such as Cornelia Funke, Michael Ende, Axel Hacke and Roberto Piumini.

Bilingual training: Every year at the Swiss School in Rome, DilaliaDuett lead a theatre workshop for high school students. It is an intra-curricular workshop aimed at offering the students acting and theatre training in a collaborative and empathic environment. The weekly lessons take place over a semester and end with a performance in one of Rome's theatres where the students experience the thrill of staging a play on a real stage. Since 2017, five shows based on texts by Dürrenmatt and Frisch have been produced for the Swiss school. The workshop classes are held in Italian and German and the plays are performed in German with short excursions into other languages (English, French and Italian). Remarkably in 2018 the musical Felicitas was staged by DilaliaDuett, with the participation of all 180 primary level students of the Swiss School Rome, at the Teatro Italia.
